Hailed by the legendary Mstislav Rostropovich as a “brilliant cellist,” Sergey Antonov, in 2007, became one of the youngest cellists awarded a gold medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. Soprano Jurate Svedaite and the Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra under maestro Adrian Sylveen will present Prayer in Opera, a program of sacred selections from well known operas. Ms. Svedaite, who made her recording debut at the age of twelve, has performed throughout Europe and the United States. Noriyo Fukui and Susan Knapp Thomas

Flutist Noriyo Fukui and harpist Susan Knapp Thomas present selections of Romantic music for the flute and harp. Ms. Fukui has performed throughout North America, UK and Japan in chamber music and solo recitals. Ms. Thomas is a well-known chamber, orchestral and solo concert artist. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she currently serves as Principal Harp for the Hartford Symphony.

 

CitySingers of Hartford

With Resounding Joy, CitySingers of Hartford will sing in the holiday season with a program of festive choral motets, traditional carols and European, Celtic and American folksongs. Flutes oboes, harp, pipe organ, suspended bells and percussion will add color to the musical palette and inspire the audience to join in singing.

West End String Quartet

The West End String Quartet came together because of their shared passion for chamber music. Since 2005, they have performed an exciting and varied repertoire of chamber music for audiences across New England, including chamber music series at The Hartt School and Wesleyan University. Strong advocates of contemporary music, WESQ pairs new and uncommon repertoire with traditional works in their concerts. Pianist Luiz de Moura Castro

With forty-five recorded albums and performances with international orchestras since his debut at the age of nine in Rio de Janeiro, Luiz de Moura Castro is now regarded as an elder statesman of the piano and is included in the “World’s Who’s Who of Musicians.” He has performed with the Dallas, Fort Worth, Hartford, St. Louis and Syracuse Symphonies, and given solo recitals throughout Europe and the Americas.
